The World Health Organization, WHO, states that wellness "is the optimal state of health of individuals and groups. There are two focal concerns: the realization of the fullest potential of an individual physically, psychologically, socially, spiritually and economically, and the fulfillment of one's role expectations in the family, community, place of worship, workplace and other settings."
Holistic Wellness Initiative seeks to focus public attention on the do it yourself solutions to wellness problems and the personal, home, work, and societal risk factors that contribute to wellness and the lack of it. Health costs and illness are at an all-time high in the United States and are costing individuals their health and businesses lost productivity from sick employees. Many wellness issues can easily be prevented by taking better care of oneself thus contributing to a better quality of life for the individual and increased productivity for businesses.
